CANTON, Mo. — Seven students will represent Culver-Stockton College at the Missouri Music Educators Association’s state convention Jan. 25-28 in Osage Beach.
The MMEA convention brings together music educators from across the state for workshops, performances and other events. It also will feature a performance by the Missouri All-Collegiate Band comprised of college students from around the state who compete for selection.
Four C-SC students were picked to perform with the ensemble, while three others were chosen as alternates.
“To be selected is one of the highest honors directors can bestow upon college musicians, and it is an endorsement of their outstanding musicianship, high personal integrity, and is a positive representation of the school and the students,” said Trent Hollinger, C-SC assistant professor of music.
Hollinger will accompany student performers and all C-SC music education majors to the convention.
The four students selected to perform are Chloee Dunham (flute), a junior music major from Dawson, Ill.; Zachary Glover (bass clarinet), senior music education major from Fulton; Hannah Kauffman (French horn), junior music education major from Festus; and Derek Boren (baritone saxophone), freshman music major from Lee’s Summit.
Selected as alternates were Kacey Kennedy (French horn), junior music education major from O’Fallon; Levi Hudnut (tenor saxophone), sophomore music education major from Lewistown; and Lydia Guerra (trombone), freshman music education major from Hillsboro.
In addition, Culver-Stockton will be represented by a faculty performer — Tom Polett, a professor of music. Polett will perform during two separate sessions.
