Techniques, principles to be part of hands-on kaleidoscope workshop
 

HANNIBAL, Mo. – Nationally known kaleidoscope makers Steve and Peggy Kittelson of Clermont, Iowa, will offer a three-hour kaleidoscope-making workshop beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Cave Hollow West Winery in the Mark Twain Cave Complex, Highway 79 South.

Participants will come away from the workshop with a completed kaleidoscope and deeper knowledge of the principles and techniques used to create them. The Kittelsons will lead participants through the kaleidoscope-making process, including assembling the scope and mirror system, choosing between oil-filled and dry cells, creating the intricate kaleidoscope images and assembling the kaleidoscope.

Cost for the class is $150 which includes all materials. Participants may wish to bring additional small charms or small pieces of colored glass to use in the cells. Two people may attend as a pair and make one scope for one cost. The workshop is limited to eight participants.

Minimum age is 12 years old. No experience is necessary.
