Jupiter Quartet to perform in QCMA concert

QUINCY -- They had to cancel last year, but finally they are coming. The Jupiter String Quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at St. John's Anglican Parish, Seventh and Hampshire, presented by the Quincy Civic Music Association. The quartet comprises a husband and wife along with her sister and friend who perform classical chamber music.

The Jupiter String Quartet have performed at New York's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and major venues in Washington, London, Austria and Seoul and many other cities around the United States and world.

Among their chamber music honors are first prize in the Banff International String Quartet Completion, grand prize in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, an Avery Fisher Career Grant and Chamber Music America's Cleveland Quartet Award. They have recorded works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Shostakovich and Britten for Marquis Records, as well as American works in conjunction with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Deutsche Grammophon.

The Jupiters are the String Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Illinois.

Students through high school are admitted free to QCMA concerts. Many college students are also admitted free.
