Musical Influences

From the Band
Fielder is a five piece band out of a little old town up on a bluff just east of the Mississippi River called Quincy, Illinois. Fielder combines aspects of its acoustic roots to its current rock and roll demeanor. The band was formed in late 2003 as a 3 piece but their current 5 piece structure was not fully established until late 2006. In the relatively short amount of time that the five members were playing together they put together an amazingly tight eclectic musical connection that couldn't be kept underground. A buzz surrounded their hometown of Quincy, Illinois and off they went playing shows for Colleges/Bars/Friends.

Fielder's lead vocalist is 25 year old Logan Kammerer. His unique songwriting ability and intense style of singing are only matched by the masterful prowess that he exhibits while serving as Fielder's self-taught acoustic front man. Over the past ten years, Kammerer has excelled at writing numerous amounts of songs that can be described as nothing less than soulful. Listeners can feel the edgy vibe in his voice and are left overwhelmed by his emotion time and time again.

The backbone of the band comes from the band's bassist Alex Tappe, one of the founding members of this original alternative/rock band Fielder. Tappe’s unique style of play and techniques on the bass can be explained with two seemingly simple words that carry sophisticated meaning when applied to Tappe; smooth and passionate. Alex started playing bass guitar at the age of 12 with some of his grade school buddy’s playing cover tunes from the 90’s before later picking up the acoustic guitar in his early high school career. Tappe then started playing/writing songs on the acoustic guitar with Logan Kammerer which would soon be the foundation for Fielder.

The heartbeat of Fielder is drummer Chris Cornwell. Growing up in his family's music store in Quincy and playing drums in his High School Pep Band/other bands around the area, Cornwell was able to develop a great deal of knowledge in music. Having multiple instruments at his finger tips in his family music store growing up gave Chris an ability to learn more than one instrument. Cornwell can also play guitar, bass, and does some back up singing for the band. With Cornwell’s knowledge on numerous instruments allows him to hear each member of the band individually which is a skill that allows him to accompany any sound to perfection.

Playing the electric guitar for Fielder is Matt Lawless. Lawless exhibits a vast range of musical talent/knowledge on the electric guitar that has further aided the development of rock-n-roll band Fielder. While growing up playing piano for 10 years, Lawless soon picked up his older brothers electric guitar his freshman year and began playing lead guitar for bands around Quincy. Matt’s passion for the three piece band Fielder at the time made him want to add another element to the band and soon joined in early 2006 with keyboardist Scott Smith. His heart-pounding guitar rifts supply an indescribable high that raises the band's musical energy to an outstanding level.

The final member of Fielder is Scott Smith. Having taken piano lessons since he was five years old from the same piano teacher as Matt Lawless, Smith was able to acquire a genuine appreciation for his expertise. His work on the keyboard is unquestionably one of the most important elements in creating the euphoric sensation that accompanies Fielder's music. Smith is able to bridge the gap between musical peaks within a song which gives each track a natural and free-flowing feel.

From the Band
The world has two new musical genius' to the hip-hop throne, Johnathan (Mackamillion) and Jarred (Mr. Mackmore) aka, Double Vision. Double Vision is twin brothers that have been compared to duos such as Kriss Kross, Camp Lo, Little Brother, Outkast and the recent Chicago-based duo The Cool Kids, for their impecable style of dress code.

"We like to set trends for what should and shouldn't be. We're not gangsters, we're more like a funky twist of backpackers and macks," Mackamillion says.

Being born in a city with such artistic energy and cultural diversity (Venice, CA.), and then living in cities throuought the Midwest and the south, it's no wonder these baby-faced men have such old souls and insight.

Rhyming since the tender age of 7, they first emerged as Reflection, later on changing their name to what is now known as Double Vision. From there they hooked with longtime partner Bill Blast, aka Motion Plus, as their main producer, who eventually hooked up with Jia Davis formerly of the famous St. Lois duo Bits N Pieces, who is also featured on their first studio album: NO EXPLANATION!

When asked about their genre of music they so proudly claim as their own, Mackmore explains, "We speak for the men and women who seem to naturally attract the opposite sex without what some people call game or the use of pick up lines. As for the backpacker part, we're talking about those independent artist, Hip Hop purist and entrepreneurs who have got their own hustle, no matter what genre of music or business they’re involved in."

Mackamillion holds no cut cards for any song, topic, or issue. Especially on the somewhat controversial song "Mental Chains." Creatively, rap is at a stand still, and Double Vision brings an end to the stagnation with songs like, "So Cool" and "Backpacker," that showcase the group's intriguing personalities and personifies their 'ahead-of-our-time style.’ There is no question as to why their music is so magnetizing.

Double Vision addresses the issues of the common folks, not the "iced out jewels" or drug dealer stories that our ears are currently saturated with. Double Vision represents the real issues we all go through. It's obvious these guys just want to bring the fun back into music. Sit back, relax and be prepared. Double Vision is solely interested and dedicated to making innovative and creative music.

“At the end of the day, we make music for those who actually have a brain,” says Mackamillion. DV is currently working on their new EP which will be released on No Sleep Records. NSR welcomes Double Vision to the No Sleep family, as they are the first Hip-Hop act to sign with No Sleep Records.

A Sure Reminder is comprised of four dedicated musicians attempting to influence the world with meaningful lyrics and an energy that can’t be duplicated. Music has always had an inspiration to this foursome and continues to be the drive and motivation to get them through the day.

They thrive off of honesty with each other and are constantly finding ways to improve on the aggressive hardcore punk sound.

They all hail from the great city of Albert Lea, MN. Although they all knew each other from the same town, they didn’t decide to join together until all were in different cities. Trevor and Tim ran into each other at a party and instantly started talking about getting a band together. After they had jammed a few times they knew of the one bassist they wanted. After some consideration Matt had joined the crew. Tim’s brother Adam was then brought on to finish the lineup on drums. A Sure Reminder wants to be an inspiration for living life in a positive manner and making the best out of every situation. They always want to be a part of a fans life, whether it be through messages on MySpace, touching them through a song’s lyrics, or just being entertaining to watch.

From the Band
Cheeks McGee is a one man jam band from Quincy that is a self-taught, percussive, and rhythmic acoustic guitar player. Cheeks plays his trademark mahogany acoustic guitar while looping tasty riffs and chord progressions using a live looping sampler. Once the loop is set Cheeks adds percussive patterns by either hitting his guitar or making unique sounds with his mouth to personify the illusion of having a drummer and bass player. He then throws down some wicked solos with his trusty sidekick...the trumpet or takes it to a different dimension by soloing on his acoustic guitar through his "talk box" to get some outrageous sounds.

Using his skills on various instruments, Cheeks has built a solo show that has opened the eyes and grabbed the attention of many bands, people, and venues in the area as well as across the nation.

This is where we are today. A high-energy, entertaining get out of your seat show that makes his fans want to come back for more. This past summer Cheeks put together his second nationwide tour that expanded across 33 states and over 30 live performances to expand his fan base and bring his unique solo show to fans across the nation.

From the Band
St. Louis-based performers Descending New Angels have accomplished over 175 shows along the Mississippi corridor in two years and released their self-titled album in August 2009. Just a few weeks after their CD release they were playing at a music festival, when a KDHX radio show host caught their performance, asked for a CD and requested a live studio interview (aired October 14). During the interview host Dan Kinney described the band influences as “southern-rock and new age alternative rock” and compared DNA to Government Mule. Four of the songs from the album have since made regular rotation on the 88.1FM KDHX.

While this band can jam and rock, they are best known for their grungy blues-rock sound. Cape Girardeau's newspaper the Southeast Missourian wrote "this St. Louis band has perfected the alt-rock ballad." Descending New Angels' symphonic style includes a constant dance between acoustic and electric guitars, which has been compared to Three Doors Down. Erik Simpson's acoustical talent shines as he draws the audience in with melodic starts, then builds intricate texture throughout each song. Lead singer Randy Shanks offers uniquely rich and passionate vocals shifting from soft melodic tones to soulful bellows, and is often likened to Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell. Shanks also delivers an impressive lead guitar with speed and agility as he seamlessly shifts between rock riffs and bluesy bends. The band's skilled drummer is Keith Thurnau and Mike Titchenal plays bass. DNA has 4 hours of finely tuned originals, but will occasionally surprise the crowds with covers from their own favorite bands--Counting Crows, Men at Work, Blues Traveler, Audioslave and Pearl Jam.

From the Band
Founding members, Tom Washburn and Gale Case, originally formed the band under the name BLUMOOSE. Tom and Gale have been life-long friends who met at the moose lodge when they were kids. Originally conceptualized as a blues band, the name BLUMOOSE was created in tribute to the musical style and personal history. Chad Davis joined the band in 2007, rounding out the guitar and vocals. With original drummer, Matt Settles, BLUMOOSE hit the scene playing many shows and benefits for two years. In 2009, Matt Settles left the band. Gavin Harper, Chad's cousin, took the reigns as drummer. When Gavin came on board, BLUMOOSE changed its name to SHADE. SHADE is now a very diverse band. Still playing the blues music they love, but adding in classic and modern rock to keep audiences dancing. Original work is currently in the Demo stage.
