From the Band
The Huckabutt Trio was started by Aaron Butterfield and Josh Hucklenbrick in the Fall of 2010. Aaron and Josh have been playing music together since 2007 (originally in a hardcore band called Death-council). We began recording music with local musicians and finally decided to create this band as a platform to perform the music we recorded. We have played all around the Tri-State area, and some of our recordings have even been played on Y101's local music over the radio. We look to create music with local musicians still, and we are always down to play at your local venue/bar.

From the Band
Formed in February 2010, Iron Orchard is an Americana/Roots Rock band hailing from the land between the Illinois and Mississippi rivers. Officially known as the Illinois Military Tract, the area was dubbed "Forgottonia" by a Western Illinois University student in the 1970's. Songwriter/Rhythm Guitarist Bill Harroun has spent his entire life in and around the area, and his original songs reflect the characters and landscape of this rural area between the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. In a high school band that included Quad-Cities Best Guitarist two-time winner Scott Whitehall, Harroun received airplay on the legendary free-form FM station KFMH 99 Plus. Originally from Rockford, IL, lead string man John Gorlewski landed in the area in 2009. Gorlewski started playing professionally at 14 in Rockford’s Basement Blues Band, and served as Bob Rising’s (Poster Children, Steve Pride and his Blood Kin) lead guitar player. While attending Northern Illinois University, John shared guitar duties in The Kurl Band with current Backyard Tire Fire touring guitarist Scott Tipping. He also played pedal steel guitar with Midwestern Americana outfit the Great Plains Gypsies. Larry Andrew hails from Pittsburgh, PA, and spent the 60's & 70's playing bass and keyboards with numerous bands on the eastern seaboard, including spending some time with the WWVA Jamboree in West Virginia. Joe Gallagher plays drums & percussion for the band. Most recently, Joe held down the drum chair for regional country favorites Jerad Harness and The Martini Time Cowboys. The band is releasing their debut EP in late 2010.

Adam Gardner (aka "AyDamn"), lead vocals and guitar
Britton Campbell, drums
Chaz Springhart, bass guitar and backing vocals
Dave Beezy, guitarist and backing vocals

Musical Influences
With musical genius Sting as inspiration, THIS IS ENERGY's power pop/rock music is a unique blend of melodic substance that also fuses modern lyrical styling from such well-known bands at Third Eye Blind and Dashboard Confessional.

From the Band
Adam, Britton and Chaz worked together in a previous group in St. Louis, and had national exposure and success as an independent band. Traveling together on multiple cross-country tours, including the 2004 and 2005 "Warped Tours," Adam, Britton and Chaz sold some 13,000 discs independently (prior to the rise of MySpace and iTunes), building a strong fan base and consistently selling out 1,000+ capacity venues. After the breakup of the former band, Adam, Britton and Chaz parted professionally for a brief time, but never forgot how much they'd accomplished. For the next two years, Adam would continue to write new music, always topping his past efforts. Renewing his excitement with these new songs, Adam realized he had to find band members that shared his passion. So, he called Britton and Chaz, who both also felt the power of these new songs, motivating them to pursue their love for music once again. The band members knew they could never give up on their dream again, and that there would be no stopping them, regardless of any obstacles. Adam discovered guitarist Dave Beezy, soon after Dave had relocated from his home country of France to pursue his dream of contininuing his career as a professional working musician in America. With Dave completeing the four-man band, THIS IS ENERGY was born. THIS IS ENERGY have a burning passion to pass forward their energy to fans and to inspire everyone who comes to their shows to actually do something and be someone, in order to make a difference and impact the world around them in a positive way. The message THIS IS ENERGY sends out in their live shows is "Don't Give Up On Your Dreams." The same philosophy the band exudes through their lives and in their riveting performances, along with everything else they do, makes THIS IS ENERGY an unstoppable force. Their music takes listeners to the very top and hurtles them above their everyday lives. THIS IS ENERGY continues bringing a new generation of followers along with them on this musical journey, one show at a time.

From the Band
Young bands struggle – that’s a given. Even young bands dubbed “the voice of a generation” after one album and who land on some of the world’s biggest festival stages will face some unexpected obstacles. It’s how those bands handle adversity that truly defines their legacy. Meet, or re-meet, The Graduate. In 2005, the band formed out of the ashes of two defunct local bands in central Illinois.

By 2006 the new group had already garnered some serious label attention, and within the next year The Graduate had released their first record, Anhedonia. The album earned praise from the likes of Spin, CMJ (where they landed on the cover) and Absolutepunk.net (who coined the “voice of the generation” comment); on the strength of that one release, the group landed on the Warped Tour, Lollapalooza, The Bamboozle and the German music fest Rock am See, as well as tours with the likes of Jack’s Mannequin, Secondhand Serenade, Simple Plan, and Ludo.

And then the bottom fell out. The band’s label folded in 2008, leaving the group back at square one, right as the work had started on album number two. “Let’s put it this way – we had expected to work on our second record for two months, not two years,” says guitarist Max Sauer. But even faced with an uncertain future, the band soldiered on, renting a house in their native Springfield, IL, and writing a new record entirely on their own dime. “In a way, it helped,” says Warning. “For this second record, we feel like we delivered an album. The last record was sort of just everything we had written, including some songs from an old EP. This time, we had 30 demos ready by the time we tracked, we had the time to pick the best stuff and work on each individual song.” (During this time, the group also signed a deal with the New York indie label Razor & Tie, home to the likes of Brand New, Norma Jean.)

You can hear the result of all that extra time and attention to detail in the band’s new album. It’s certainly not a trendy release – there are no outside songwriters, pop producers, keytars or Top 40 collaborators here. Nor is the record purposely esoteric. Instead, The Graduate delivers an intricate, dynamic pop-rock record with equal parts aggression and atmosphere – you could fit the record comfortably between Jimmy Eat World, U2, Minus the Bear and even Arcade Fire in your playlist (Yes, we said Arcade Fire. Check out the choruses of “Pull Me In” and “For the Missing” for proof).

Most importantly, the album feels like a natural progression from Anhedonia. Despite the delays and upheaval of the last two years, the group still sounds incredibly comfortable working with each other. “It helps that we all pretty much like the same things in music,” says Warning. “We all write and bring different things to the songs, but it’s really easy when we come together. We take each other’s opinions seriously.”

The band credits producer Brian McTernan, best known for his work with Cave In, Thrice, Circa Survive, and Hot Water Music (among dozens of other A-level bands), for helping the group progress. The band recorded both of their records in the producer’s Salad Days studio in Baltimore, but felt a stronger presence from him this second time around. “The first record, he acted almost as a coach,” says Warning. “With this record, he was almost like a member of the band.” For now, the group plans to hit the road in the fall with Ludo, their tourmates from 2008, and pretty much keep the pedal to the floor. “That’s really what our lives are about – this band,” says Warning. “Even in our off-time, we write, rehearse and just get ready to play these songs on stage. Whatever happens to us, we just concentrate on making this band better.”
